Reports suggest that Borussia Dortmund has decided against pursuing the re-signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United in the current transfer window. The 23-year-old winger's future at Old Trafford has come under scrutiny due to his struggles to perform at his best during the 2022-23 season.

Sancho made 41 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side last season and regained his regular spot in the team after returning from a personal issue. However, his goal contributions were limited to seven goals and three assists, failing to replicate the exceptional form he displayed during his time at Dortmund.

During his two seasons at Manchester United, Sancho managed only 12 goals and six assists in 79 appearances. In contrast, his tenure at Dortmund between 2017 and 2021 saw him amass an impressive record of 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances. As Manchester United seeks to secure a high-profile center-forward, they may need to offload players this summer.

Recent reports indicated that Dortmund had approached Manchester United regarding the possibility of reacquiring Sancho on an initial loan deal with an option for a permanent transfer. However, according to Bild, Dortmund has abandoned their pursuit, as they believe that 17-year-old Julien Duranville has greater potential than the English winger.

Duranville joined Dortmund from Anderlecht in 2023 and made his first-team debut against Mainz 05 on the final matchday of the 2022-23 Bundesliga season. Meanwhile, Sancho has resumed pre-season training with Manchester United, as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. Head coach Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to retain the services of Sancho, but the club may entertain offers if a substantial bid is made during the current transfer market.

Sancho is expected to feature in Manchester United's first pre-season friendly against Leeds United, scheduled for July 12. In their preparations for the 2023-24 season, the 20-time English champions will also face Lyon, Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Dortmund, Lens, and Athletic Bilbao.
