In a dramatic turn of events, Borussia Dortmund secured their first victory over arch-rivals Bayern Munich in 12 attempts, dealing a significant blow to Bayern's Bundesliga title hopes.

The match at the Allianz Arena saw Dortmund take the lead within the first 10 minutes, courtesy of Karim Adeyemi's goal following a swift counterattack. Despite Bayern's efforts to equalize, they were unable to capitalize on several clear chances, allowing Dortmund to extend their lead in the second half through Julian Ryerson.

Although Bayern thought they had pulled one back late in the game with a goal from Harry Kane, VAR ruled it out for offside, leaving Bayern unable to score in a "Der Klassiker" match for the first time since August 2019.

The defeat leaves Bayern trailing Bayer Leverkusen by 13 points in the Bundesliga title race, following Leverkusen's earlier victory over Hoffenheim.

Both teams made significant changes to their lineups from their previous matches, with Bayern bringing in Konrad Laimer, Sven Ulreich, and Alphonso Davies, while Dortmund saw Jadon Sancho, Felix Nmecha, and Julian Ryerson joining the starting lineup.

Dortmund wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Adeyemi's goal setting the tone early on. Despite Bayern's efforts, they were unable to break through Dortmund's defense, with Kane missing a crucial opportunity to score.

As the game progressed, Dortmund capitalized on Bayern's defensive vulnerabilities, with Ryerson scoring their second goal late in the game. Although Kane briefly thought he had brought Bayern back into contention, his goal was disallowed for offside.

With only seven Bundesliga matches remaining, Dortmund still have a significant gap to close if they are to challenge Leverkusen for the title.
