There are reports indicating that Manchester United has inquired about the potential availability of RB Leipzig's German attacker, forward Timo Werner. Werner had previously spent two years in the Premier League with Chelsea, having joined them from Leipzig for £45m in 2020.

During his time with Chelsea, Werner achieved success by winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. However, despite securing three major trophies, he faced challenges in terms of goal-scoring consistency, particularly in the Premier League, where he scored 10 goals in 56 top-flight appearances.

In 2022, Werner returned to Leipzig, making a notable impact in his first season back, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in 40 competitive games. However, this season, the 27-year-old has found himself lower in the pecking order, starting just four of his 13 appearances across all competitions, with players like Lois Openda, Yussuf Poulsen, and Benjamin Sesko ahead of him.

This situation has raised questions about Werner's future at the Red Bull Arena. According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United is among the clubs expressing interest in the former Chelsea player. The report suggests that Manchester United has initiated an inquiry about his availability, though no formal offer or negotiations have taken place at this stage. While Real Madrid was previously linked with Werner, their interest has reportedly diminished.

Recent reports also mention Premier League clubs Crystal Palace, Fulham, and West Ham United as being interested in Werner. Despite his dissatisfaction with limited playing time, Werner is leaning towards staying with Leipzig at least until the end of the season.
