Mason Greenwood appears to have reservations about returning to Manchester United this summer, feeling that the club could have offered him better support. Despite recent remarks from new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe suggesting a possible return for Greenwood to the Red Devils' squad for the 2024-25 season, the forward seems hesitant.

Currently on loan at Getafe, Greenwood has been in impressive form for the Spanish side, notching up seven goals and five assists in 25 appearances across all competitions this season. However, speculation continues to swirl around his future, with Barcelona reportedly interested in securing him permanently.

Getafe president Angel Torres has indicated that Greenwood is keen to extend his stay with the club for another year, having settled in well since his loan move last summer.
According to The Athletic, despite the potential opportunity for a return to Manchester United, Greenwood is reportedly reluctant to accept it, feeling that the club hasn't provided enough support amid his past legal issues.

In January 2022, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of various charges, including rape and assault, though the case against him was dropped last February. Manchester United initially planned to reintegrate Greenwood into their squad last summer but reversed course due to public reaction.

Before his arrest, Greenwood was widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in world football, having scored 35 goals and provided 12 assists in 129 matches for Manchester United across all competitions.

Atletico Madrid is also said to be monitoring the situation closely, ready to make a move if Greenwood becomes available for a permanent transfer this summer. Despite his contract with Manchester United running until June 2025, Greenwood has already demonstrated his prowess in La Liga this season, tallying five goals and five assists in 22 appearances.
