Manchester United's out of favor winger, Jadon Sancho, is reportedly considering a loan move during the upcoming January transfer window as he continues to be sidelined from first-team activities.

Sancho, 23, made the switch to the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, following a successful four-year stint in the Bundesliga. However, his time at Old Trafford hasn't unfolded as he had hoped.

Since joining United, Sancho has made 82 appearances and scored 12 goals, a significant drop in his goal-scoring performance compared to his time at Dortmund, where he netted 50 goals in 137 games between 2017 and 2021. He hasn't played for the club since a 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on August 26, following a falling out with head coach Erik ten Hag in August.

According to The Standard, Sancho is leaning towards a loan move away from Manchester United in January, rather than a permanent transfer that would sever his ties with the 20-time English champions. The report suggests that the former Manchester City youth player prefers a temporary move with the aim of eventually returning to the first-team setup at Old Trafford, whether under Ten Hag's management or another head coach in the future.

It's been reported that Manchester United's management is open to considering offers for the winger in the New Year, and several top European clubs have already shown interest in acquiring his services.

A return to Signal Iduna Park could be a possibility for Sancho, as Borussia Dortmund, perennial Bundesliga title contenders, are interested in bringing the attacker back to Germany for the latter half of the 2023-24 season. Additionally, Serie A giants Juventus are also reportedly keen on the Englishman, as they seek to secure Champions League qualification after finishing seventh under Massimiliano Allegri in the previous season.

Both Dortmund and Juventus have allegedly contacted Sancho's representatives regarding a potential January move, though it remains uncertain which destination the player would prefer. Due to his refusal to apologize to Ten Hag after a strongly-worded Instagram post, Sancho will continue to train alone at United's Carrington base and won't be considered for selection.

Manchester United has faced a challenging start to the season in their second full term under the leadership of the Dutchman, winning four and losing four of their first eight Premier League matches. Currently sitting in 10th place in the top-flight standings, the club's pre-season ambitions of contending for the league title with teams like Manchester City and Arsenal are a distant reality.

Their upcoming match at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United on Saturday night offers an opportunity for Manchester United to achieve back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time this season, with Sheffield United being one of the only two sides in the division yet to secure a victory.
