According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur is willing to set a price of £100 million on Harry Kane, even if Real Madrid expresses interest in the striker. Despite having just over a year left on his contract, which puts Spurs at risk of losing their prized asset on a free transfer in 2024, chairman Daniel Levy is allegedly willing to take that risk to prevent Kane from joining a domestic rival for the 2023-24 season.

Previously, it seemed likely that Kane would only consider a move to an English club, as he showed little interest in joining Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain. However, the situation has now changed due to Karim Benzema unexpectedly declining to extend his stay at Real Madrid, opting instead to move to a club in Saudi Arabia. This has left Los Blancos without a prominent striker and two high-profile playmakers, Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard, who are leaving on free transfers.

On a positive note for Real Madrid, this has freed up space in their wage bill, providing them with greater flexibility to pursue established alternatives instead of their planned loan arrival of Joselu from Espanyol.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid is prepared to indicate their interest in negotiating a deal for Kane with Spurs. In response, it is stated that Spurs will demand £100 million if they receive formal contact from the La Liga giants, recognizing the need to adequately replace Benzema. Real Madrid hopes there is room to lower this asking price, believing that all parties can find a mutually agreeable solution. Much will depend on Kane's willingness to leave the Premier League, as he is known to aspire to eventually break Alan Shearer's all-time leading goalscorer record at some point in his career.
