According to reports, Barcelona still maintains hope for a potential swap deal involving Ansu Fati and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves. Despite securing the La Liga title, the Catalan club has been aware of the need to generate funds for new player signings this summer.

While the departure of several fringe players will help, it is realistically necessary for Barcelona to part ways with a major asset in order to make progress with new additions and contracts. Fati has recently been linked with a Camp Nou exit due to limited playing time this season, but his father, Bori Fati, has stated that the winger will remain at the club.

This situation has implications for players like Neves, as Barcelona reportedly doesn't consider him a priority signing but recognizes that a part-exchange deal offers the best chance to address their financial situation. Although it was initially believed that such a deal was off the table, Sport claims that behind-the-scenes work is being done to facilitate the transfer.

The report suggests that Barcelona would only pursue Neves if Fati is included in the deal, thereby avoiding any financial outlay. Barcelona's desired terms involve Wolves paying €30m (£26.09m) in addition to Neves for Fati, as previously reported, and Wolves are seemingly willing to comply.

Neves himself addressed his future over the weekend, appearing to bid farewell to Wolves fans at the end of his sixth season at Molineux. The Portuguese international has expressed his desire to play Champions League football, and it is alleged that he has already agreed to a four-year deal with Barcelona. If the deal goes through, it would be considered "very beneficial" for all parties involved, especially Barcelona, who need to raise funds before June 30.

However, Fati's approval is still pending, and Wolves also have their own Financial Fair Play (FFP) issues to address, which may require them to make their own player sales. The departure of high-earning Joao Moutinho on a free transfer and Raul Jimenez leaving with one year remaining on his contract are expected to assist Wolves in their financial situation.
