Getafe president Angel Torres has revealed that Mason Greenwood, currently on loan from Manchester United, is keen on extending his stay with the Spanish club for "another year."

Last summer, Greenwood was informed that he had no future at Manchester United, prompting his loan move to Getafe for the 2023-24 season. Since then, the 22-year-old has been in impressive form, tallying seven goals and five assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Although Barcelona has been frequently linked with Greenwood, recent reports suggest that he would reject a move to Camp Nou if given another chance at Old Trafford. There's even speculation from Manchester United's new minority shareholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, about a potential return to the first-team squad for the 2024-25 season.

While Torres acknowledges that the final decision rests with Manchester United, he believes Greenwood is inclined towards spending "another year" with Getafe.
"He has a clear conscience, he is very comfortable and Nuts about staying another year. It's a matter that they [United] have to decide," Torres told COPE.

"There is new ownership. They have to decide. In Spain, he has a market but they [Barcelona] have money. Barca's way of playing would suit him well but it depends on Manchester United. If it's true, he'll tell me."
