Tottenham Hotspur appears to be in pole position to secure the services of Toni Kroos, as the seasoned midfielder contemplates leaving Real Madrid for a move to the Premier League. Back in 2014, the German international came close to joining Manchester United from Bayern Munich, but he eventually made the switch to Real Madrid, where he has enjoyed considerable success in the Spanish capital.

Over the course of his career at Los Blancos, the 33-year-old has featured in 430 matches across all competitions, scoring 28 goals and providing 92 assists. He has helped secure three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and four Champions League trophies for Real Madrid. In the current season, Kroos continues to be a vital part of the squad, making 13 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists.

With his contract at the Bernabeu set to expire next June, Kroos is reportedly contemplating a fresh challenge at this stage of his career. The Sun reports that he has a keen interest in playing in the Premier League before retiring.

According to the report, Kroos' representatives are expected to engage in discussions with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City to explore potential moves. However, it is believed that Tottenham holds a strong position in the race, as their head coach, Ange Postecoglou, is determined to finalize a deal.

If Kroos doesn't sign a new contract with Real Madrid, he could potentially be available in the January transfer window, as the club is reluctant to allow him to depart on a free transfer at the end of the season. This season, Kroos has faced competition for a spot in Real Madrid's starting lineup, primarily due to the presence of midfielders like Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Federico Valverde.

Nevertheless, Kroos has been instrumental in recent matches for Los Blancos, even starting in the 2-1 victory over Barcelona on a Saturday before being substituted in the 63rd minute. While he had previously expressed his intention to "retire" at Real Madrid, it appears that he is now open to one final challenge before concluding his career.
