Sevilla is reportedly considering making a move for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood in the upcoming summer transfer window. This decision follows the Red Devils' resolution in August that Greenwood would no longer play for the club, concluding an investigation into events leading to his arrest in January 2022.

After facing accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. Subsequently, he faced further arrests on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill. The forward was also charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, and assault causing actual bodily harm. However, earlier this year, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped all charges, enabling him to resume his career this season.

Initially, Manchester United intended to reintegrate him into the first team, but due to public backlash, they changed their stance. Greenwood ultimately moved to Getafe on loan during the closing stages of the summer transfer window, despite not playing since January 2022. He quickly adapted at Getafe and made his debut against Osasuna on September 17.

During this season, Greenwood has made five appearances, scoring once and providing one assist. It is believed he would consider a permanent move to Getafe next summer. However, The Mirror suggests there will be competition for his services at the end of the season, with several other La Liga clubs interested in signing him.

Sevilla is one of these interested clubs and might offer Greenwood the chance to return to European football. Despite his contract with Manchester United lasting until June 2025, journalist Jamie Jackson recently hinted at a potential return to the first-team picture at Old Trafford. However, it appears unlikely that Greenwood will represent the English champions again, and a permanent exit next summer is anticipated.

Greenwood has reportedly settled well in Spain since his arrival last month. A successful 2023-24 campaign could attract interest from high-profile clubs in other leagues. Before his arrest, Greenwood was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, boasting an impressive record of 129 matches for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals and providing 12 assists, including 22 goals and four assists in 83 Premier League matches.
