Liverpool is reportedly planning to intensify negotiations for the renewal of Mohamed Salah's contract after the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations. Despite enjoying considerable success during his tenure with Liverpool, Salah's future has become uncertain as he has only 18 months remaining on his current deal.

During the summer transfer window, there were speculations linking Salah to a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, but Liverpool firmly rejected any attempts to lure him away.

Although there were suggestions that Salah might leave the club after the current season, a recent report indicated that he is open to extending his stay, even with interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool intends to initiate discussions regarding a new contract once the 31-year-old returns from the Africa Cup of Nations. While the club was eager to begin talks at the start of the year, Salah is currently focused on representing Egypt in the tournament in the Ivory Coast.

Egypt's first game is against Mozambique on Sunday, and Salah hopes to see his nation progress to the final scheduled for February 1. Despite the uncertainties, Salah reportedly remains driven to compete at the highest level of European football with Jurgen Klopp's team. He continues to be a crucial member of the Liverpool squad, having scored 18 goals and provided nine assists in 27 competitive appearances this season.

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in the summer of 2017, Salah has contributed a total of 204 goals in 332 matches. Additionally, Liverpool is expected to commence contract negotiations for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom are set to be out of contract in June 2025.

While Salah prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations, his Liverpool teammates will have a brief break before returning to action against Bournemouth on January 21.
