Leicester City Football Club has officially announced the departure of seven players from their squad, signaling a summer rebuild following their relegation from the Premier League on the last day of the season.

In an official statement released on Monday, the Foxes confirmed that seven members of the first-team squad will be leaving the club as their contracts expire at the end of June. Among those departing is Caglar Soyuncu, who joined Leicester in 2018 and went on to make 132 appearances for the club. The Turkish international, highly regarded for his defensive prowess, is expected to leave the Premier League and join La Liga giants Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

Another notable departure is Youri Tielemans, who recently announced that he will be seeking a new challenge after four years with Leicester. During his time at the club, Tielemans showcased his talents in 195 games across various competitions, contributing with 28 goals and 26 assists.

Reports suggest that Aston Villa has expressed interest in securing the services of Tielemans as they look to strengthen their squad following their qualification for the Europa Conference League.

In addition to Soyuncu and Tielemans, Leicester City confirmed the releases of Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, and Ayoze Perez. Furthermore, Tete, who was on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, will return to his parent club at the conclusion of his loan spell.

The club is currently in discussions with captain Jonny Evans, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the month. Leicester has also exercised the option to extend the contract of midfielder Hamza Choudhury until the summer of 2024. Choudhury, a product of Leicester's youth academy, spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Championship side Watford, featuring in 36 league games.

As the Foxes plan for the future, they are yet to appoint a permanent manager, with Dean Smith reportedly under consideration after assuming the role on a short-term basis until the end of the season. Smith has reportedly engaged in discussions with the Leicester hierarchy, who are carefully evaluating their options.

Leicester City faces an important period of transition as they bid farewell to several key players and prepare to rebuild their squad for the challenges ahead. Fans eagerly await further developments as the club determines its next steps in securing a bright future on and off the pitch.
