Serhou Guirassy 'rejects new Stuttgart deal' after being linked to Top EPL clubs (1 Viewer)

Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy has reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign a new contract. Despite a less-than-noteworthy career before the 2023-24 season, where his standout achievement was scoring 11 goals on loan at Stuttgart last season, the Guinea international has become one of Europe's sought-after strikers due to his impressive performances.

Despite facing a hamstring injury that initially threatened his form, Guirassy has managed to contribute 16 goals and one assist in just 12 Bundesliga appearances since August.

Although he has a contract with Stuttgart, a team vying for Champions League qualification, until 2026, a release clause of £17.5 million has complicated matters for the German side. Initially intended as a deterrent, this clause has attracted interest from other clubs.

Stuttgart officials have been working to negotiate a new deal with Guirassy before teams can meet the release clause next month. However, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, Guirassy has declined the opportunity to sign a new contract and remove the release clause.

It is suggested that he is looking forward to a new challenge in the coming year, provided suitable proposals are presented. Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly monitoring the situation, with the former two needing to adhere to Financial Fair Play criteria.

Fulham and Roma have also shown interest in Guirassy, particularly after his standout performances earlier in the season, where he scored eight goals, including two hat-tricks, in a four-game period.

With a career tally of 31 goals in 55 Bundesliga games and 31 strikes across 109 appearances in Ligue 1, mostly at Rennes, Guirassy's departure from Stuttgart would be a significant setback for a club currently holding a six-point advantage in the race for Champions League qualification. Additionally, the team is just five points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen after finishing 16th in the 2022-23 season.
