Cristiano Ronaldo has made history by becoming the first player to score 900 top-level career goals. The milestone came as Portugal started their Nations League campaign with a win over Croatia.
At 39 years old, Ronaldo showcased his incredible skills by volleying in a goal from the edge of the six-yard box in the 34th minute. This strike, from a deep cross by Nuno Mendes, doubled Portugal’s lead and marked his 131st goal for his national team 20 years after his first.
Ronaldo's emotional celebration saw him sink to his knees, reflecting the significance of this achievement. Earlier in the match, Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot had given Portugal an early lead, but he later scored an own goal, allowing Croatia to level the score before halftime.
Over the course of his career, Ronaldo has scored for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and recently Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. With this win, Portugal is now level on points at the top of League A Group 1 with Poland, who defeated Scotland on Thursday.
