Erling Haaland of Manchester City is once again in the running for the PFA Player of the Year award, aiming for his second consecutive win. On the women’s side, Chelsea's Lauren James could make history by achieving a remarkable double victory.
Haaland earned his spot on the six-player shortlist for the men's category after an impressive season, netting 27 goals and securing his position as the Premier League’s top scorer.
Lauren James' inclusion in the women’s category opens the door for her to become the first woman to win both the PFA Young Player of the Year and the PFA Player of the Year awards in the same year. The 22-year-old was also named on the shortlist for the Young Player of the Year award earlier this week.
Joining Haaland on the men's shortlist are his Manchester City teammates Phil Foden and Rodri, along with Chelsea striker Cole Palmer, Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, and Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.
For the women’s award, James is joined by her Chelsea teammates Niamh Charles and Erin Cuthbert, as well as Manchester City’s Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp, and Khadija Shaw.
The winners will be revealed on Tuesday, August 20.
