During his first season at Manchester City, Haaland helped the team win the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League, securing a treble. He's been performing well this season too, scoring 29 goals and making six assists in 34 appearances, possibly setting City up for another treble.
Although Haaland still has three years left on his contract with Man City, rumors about his future have been circulating, with Real Madrid also interested in signing him for La Liga. Now, reports suggest that Barcelona is also keen on bringing him in by 2025.
Barcelona had initially planned to sign Haaland in 2022 but faced financial challenges that prevented the deal. Instead, they acquired Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, who has been delivering solid performances, scoring 53 goals and providing 17 assists in 85 games for Barcelona.
However, with Lewandowski's contract running until June 2026, there's speculation that he might leave next summer, possibly for Saudi Arabia. In this scenario, Haaland is seen as the perfect replacement by Barcelona, who are optimistic about their financial situation improving, enabling them to pursue Haaland in the next transfer window.
Reportedly, Haaland's current contract includes a release clause of €200m (£171m). While Manchester City hopes to secure him with a new deal, Haaland is believed to have a strong desire to play in La Liga soon.
Despite a foot injury sidelining him towards the end of 2023 and the start of 2024, Haaland made a comeback at the end of January. So far this season, he has scored 18 Premier League goals and six goals in seven Champions League matches, with City gearing up to face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
