Erling Haaland is expected to recover in time for Manchester City's crucial Premier League showdown with Liverpool this Saturday, despite a recent injury scare during international duty with Norway.

The prolific striker twisted his ankle in a friendly against the Faroe Islands, prompting his withdrawal from the national team's match against Scotland. While Haaland won't be available for that game, the injury is deemed not serious, and he is likely to feature in the clash against Liverpool.

In a statement from the Norwegian team, it was confirmed that Haaland's decision to miss the European Championship qualifier against Scotland was made in consultation with medical officers and the national team manager. Although the injury is causing him pain and some functional restrictions, it's not considered severe.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Haaland is on track to be fit for the Manchester City vs. Liverpool encounter. The striker has been in exceptional form this season, tallying 17 goals and four assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. His remarkable performance includes 13 goals in 12 Premier League matches, with a notable two-goal display against Chelsea before the international break.

Despite his impressive contributions, Haaland's future has become a subject of speculation, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing a move for him next summer. As Manchester City leads the Premier League table by one point over Liverpool, the upcoming match at the Etihad Stadium promises to be a captivating contest.

However, City will be without key players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Gomez, and John Stones, while several others, including Nathan Ake, Ederson, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, and Rodri, are doubtful due to issues arising during the international break.
