PSG attacker, Kylian Mbappe, etched another remarkable chapter in his career by scoring the decisive goal in Les Bleus' 1-0 victory over Greece during their Euro 2024 qualifying Group B match at the Stade de France.

Under the guidance of manager Didier Deschamps, the French side extended their winning streak in the group, having previously triumphed over Gibraltar, the Netherlands, and the Republic of Ireland. In front of their fervent supporters, Mbappe secured the victory with a well-taken penalty in the 55th minute.

Throughout the first half, the 24-year-old was denied multiple penalty appeals, but referee Mateu Lahoz finally awarded the spot-kick early in the second half. Dinos Mavropanos caught Antoine Griezmann on the head with a high boot, leading to the penalty decision. Although Mbappe's initial penalty was saved by Odysseas Vlachodimos, a retake was granted due to Greece's encroachment, and Mbappe made no mistake with his second attempt.

With this goal, Mbappe surpassed Just Fontaine's long-standing record from the 1957-58 season, becoming the highest-scoring French player in a single season for both club and country, accumulating an impressive tally of 54 goals.

During the 2022-23 campaign, Mbappe's goal-scoring prowess shone brightly, as he netted an astonishing 41 goals while wearing the PSG jersey. Additionally, he contributed 13 goals for the French national team, with eight of them coming during his Golden Boot-winning performance in the 2022 World Cup.

Greece ended the match with 10 players on the field after Stuttgart's center-back Mavropanos received a second yellow card. However, France had to settle for a narrow one-goal victory, which positioned them six points ahead of Gus Poyet's Greek side at the top of the group standings.
