Reports suggest that Manchester United is eyeing Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez as a potential target for the upcoming summer transfer window. Last summer, the Red Devils delved into Serie A to bolster their attacking options, securing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta BC for a deal valued at up to £72m.

Although Hojlund took some time to settle in, he has recently hit top form, scoring in each of his last five Premier League appearances. Despite his success, United may still seek to recruit a new striker this summer, especially with Anthony Martial expected to depart at the end of his contract.

United's interest in Martinez is highlighted by reports from Fichajes, suggesting that manager Erik ten Hag has earmarked the World Cup winner as a priority signing. Martinez's current contract with Inter runs until June 2026, but talks are ongoing regarding a potential extension.

While Martinez is open to staying with Inter, a final agreement has yet to be reached. The Argentine striker has been in excellent form this season, tallying 22 goals and five assists in 30 matches across all competitions, with 19 goals coming in Serie A, where he leads the scoring charts by seven goals.

Martinez's contributions have been instrumental in Inter's successful campaign, with Simone Inzaghi's side currently holding a seven-point lead over Juventus at the top of the Serie A table. Since joining Inter, the 26-year-old has secured a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, and three Italian Super Cups.
