Frenkie de Jong is reportedly contemplating his future at Barcelona, and there's a possibility he might leave the club during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder has been a crucial part of the Catalan giants' squad this season, making 22 appearances in various competitions and scoring once.

Even though De Jong has a contract with Barcelona until June 2026, journalist Lluis Canut suggests that the player is currently considering the option of departing at the end of the 2023-24 season.

During Erik ten Hag's initial transfer window as the manager of Manchester United, there was significant interest in acquiring De Jong, as he was identified as the top priority. Despite the pursuit, the midfielder consistently expressed his lack of interest in leaving Barcelona, even when the club appeared willing to sell due to financial challenges.

However, Canut now suggests a change in De Jong's perspective on the matter, indicating that the Dutchman is now open to exploring the possibility of a summer move.
"De Jong has not given the green light, but he is no longer closing the door on leaving Barca as he did two seasons ago, when he had interest, especially from Manchester United, in going to play with the coach who had him at Ajax - Ten Hag," the journalist told Esport3.

"At the moment, De Jong is a little disappointed by the situation at Barca because he has not managed to turn the expectations that had been generated at the time when he signed into important titles. De Jong would be willing to leave Barca at the end of this season."
