Inter Milan have successfully defended their Coppa Italia title with a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina in the highly anticipated final held at the Stadio Olimpico tonight.

Lautaro Martinez played a crucial role for the Nerazzurri, scoring twice in the first half to secure the win. Despite conceding an early goal from Nicolas Gonzalez in the third minute, Inter showed resilience and determination throughout the match.

This triumph marks Inter's ninth Coppa Italia title, solidifying their dominance in Italian football. It also adds to the growing success of manager Simone Inzaghi, who now boasts three winners medals as a manager, in addition to the three he earned as a player. Fiorentina, under the leadership of Vincenzo Italiano, fought valiantly in the second half, but Inter managed to withstand the intense pressure in the final 15 minutes and emerged as deserving victors.

Fiorentina displayed their trademark fast-paced start, a characteristic associated with Italiano's coaching style, catching Inter off guard with an early goal. Giacomo Bonaventura's precise pass to Jonathan Ikone allowed the Frenchman to deliver a dangerous low cross that found Gonzalez unmarked at the back post, who skillfully beat Inter's goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to give La Viola the lead.

Inter responded quickly, relying heavily on their wing-backs for attacking threats. Denzel Dumfries embarked on a powerful run, setting up Edin Dzeko, but Gaetano Castrovilli crucially blocked the Bosnian's shot.

Midway through the first half, Dzeko had another glorious opportunity after Martinez outmuscled Nikola Milenkovic and provided a pass, but the Bosnian's effort sailed over the crossbar with Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano rushing out.

However, Inter didn't have to wait long for another golden chance. Francesco Acerbi made a crucial challenge on Bonaventura, denying him a clear sight on goal. Instantly, Marcelo Brozovic's precise through ball found Martinez, who remained onside due to Milenkovic's positioning, and the Inter striker clinically finished from a tight angle, scoring his 26th goal of the campaign and surpassing his tally from the previous season.

With Inter in control, they wasted no time capitalizing on their territorial advantage. Martinez exhibited sharper instincts, beating Milenkovic to Nicolo Barella's cross from the right-wing and unleashing a phenomenal acrobatic volley that left Terracciano no chance to save.

Fiorentina struggled to pose a significant threat to Inter's goal in the early stages of the second half. Arthur Cabral and Gonzalez tested Handanovic, but both attempts were comfortably saved. However, as the match entered the final quarter, the game intensified. Romelu Lukaku, who came off the bench, immediately challenged Terracciano with a powerful shot.

Lukaku then showcased his creativity, delivering a square pass that seemed destined for fellow substitute Robin Gosens, but Dodo's presence disrupted the German's shot, causing it to fly over the bar.

This opportunity sparked a frantic few minutes of end-to-end action. Luka Jovic, after leaving two Inter defenders behind, was denied by an exceptional save from Handanovic. Italiano's team committed more men forward, leaving gaps at the back for Inter to exploit. However, Inzaghi's side struggled to capitalize on the counter-attacks, and Jovic squandered another brilliant chance, heading wide from Dodo's cross.

As stoppage time approached, Fiorentina continued to create opportunities. Gonzalez, evading both Barella and Gosens, attempted a delicate chip, but Matteo Darmian cleared the ball from near the goal
