Reportedly, Al Ettifaq midfielder Jordan Henderson is set to stay in Saudi Arabia for the remainder of the current season. Henderson, an English international, made a controversial decision to join Al Ettifaq after his Liverpool contract ended last summer.

Despite facing criticism for his move to the Middle East, Henderson expressed his desire to contribute to the growth of football in the region. Since joining Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq side, Henderson has participated in 19 competitive matches.

Although he is under contract until June 2026, recent uncertainty arose about his future when reports suggested he was considering a return to Europe. Juventus and Ajax were rumored to be interested in signing him, with discussions reportedly taking place.

Juventus, led by Massimiliano Allegri, explored a potential loan deal, while Ajax confirmed their interest after a win over Go Ahead Eagles. Ajax's interim boss, John van 't Schip, stated that the club and Henderson were in talks, leaving the player to deal with his current club.

However, the latest information from the Daily Mail suggests that Henderson is likely to stay with Al Ettifaq for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The report indicates that Al Ettifaq has no intention of allowing the 33-year-old midfielder to leave before the current transfer window closes. Club officials are expected to hold discussions with Henderson soon to address the recent uncertainty surrounding his future.

During the mid-season break in the Saudi Pro League, Henderson has joined his teammates in Abu Dhabi for a two-week training camp. Al Ettifaq will resume action against Al Khaleej next month, aiming to turn their fortunes around after a winless streak in their last nine competitive matches.

Looking ahead, Henderson hopes to contribute to his team's success in the second half of the campaign, aiming to secure his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024.
