According to reports, Steven Gerrard is eager to make a statement upon his arrival at Al-Ettifaq by securing the signings of Jordan Henderson and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Despite initially turning down the opportunity to join the Saudi Arabian club, Gerrard was confirmed as their new manager on Monday.

This appointment marks another significant achievement for the Saudi Pro League, which is rapidly establishing itself as a prominent division in world football. Unlike Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli, Gerrard's new employers are not partially owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which implies that they may not possess the same level of financial resources.

Nevertheless, following their seventh-place finish last season, there is a strong desire to keep up with the teams above them and take advantage of Gerrard's esteemed reputation. The Daily Mail reports that Henderson and Aubameyang could be among the players on Gerrard's shortlist for potential signings.

Although not reaching the same level of legendary status as Gerrard, Henderson is a highly esteemed figure at Liverpool, having made 492 appearances for the club during his 12-year tenure. The club captain has featured in 35 matches in each of the past two Premier League seasons and still has two years left on his contract with the Merseyside giants.

However, Liverpool is currently undergoing a midfield overhaul, and while Henderson remains an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's plans, it is uncertain about his long-term future. On the other hand, Aubameyang is available on a free transfer after being deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, both before and after the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the club's head coach. Previous reports have suggested that the Gabonese international prefers to remain in Europe rather than pursue a lucrative offer in the Middle East.

Nevertheless, several of Aubameyang's Chelsea teammates have already made the move to Saudi Arabia, and it remains to be seen if additional arrivals could change his perspective. During the second half of last season, Aubameyang saw limited playing time at Chelsea, featuring for only 112 minutes in the Premier League from March onwards.
