On day two of the Grand Slam tournament at Flushing Meadows, six British players initiated their US Open campaigns with victories.

Andy Murray, the 2012 champion, secured his 200th Grand Slam victory in just under three hours by defeating Corentin Moutet from France with a scoreline of 6-2, 7-5, 6-3. This accomplishment placed him as the eighth male player in the Open Era to achieve this milestone. Murray clinched the first set's final four games before facing a challenging situation in the second set, trailing 5-2 against the versatile Moutet. Despite this, Murray saved two set points and managed to level the score at 5-5. Moutet's emotions got the best of him, leading to a racquet-smashing incident. Murray capitalized on this momentum shift, breaking Moutet again and securing his place in the second round.

Murray's next opponent will be Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria, who rallied from a two-set deficit for the first time in his career to overcome Alex Molcan in a five-set battle. Meanwhile, British number one Cameron Norrie commenced his pursuit of a first major title by defeating Alexander Shevchenko of Russia with a comfortable score of 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. Norrie won an impressive 86% of points at the net and will now face Taiwanese qualifier Hsu Yu-hsiou in the next round.

In other men's matches, Dan Evans secured a straight-sets victory over Daniel Elahi Galan, facing down 12 aces from the Colombian. Jack Draper displayed an emphatic performance with a 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 win over Radu Albot of Romania, setting up a meeting with Polish 17th seed Hubert Hurkacz.

On the women's side, British players Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage progressed to the second round. Boulter delivered a comprehensive victory over Diane Parry, securing a "bagel" with a 6-4, 6-0 win. Joining Miyazaki in her debut Grand Slam win, Boulter will now face Chinese qualifier Yafan Wang. Burrage won against Anna Blinkova of Russia with a score of 6-3, 6-4, earning a challenging encounter against reigning Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka.

Defending men's champion Carlos Alcaraz's match against Dominik Koepfer was cut short when Koepfer retired injured after falling behind a set and a break to Alcaraz. Alexander Zverev, Stanislas Wawrinka, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Jannik Sinner also advanced. However, 11th seed Karen Khachanov was defeated by world number 89 Michael Mmoh.

In the women's competition, Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, and Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova emerged victorious. Nonetheless, 2021 runner-up Leylah Fernandez was defeated in three sets by Ekaterina Alexandrova.
