AC Milan are reportedly considering whether to formally approach Adama Traore, the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger. The Spanish international has completed his fifth year at Molineux, playing a crucial role in helping the club maintain their position in the Premier League.

Throughout his 194 appearances in all competitions, Traore has contributed 14 goals and 20 assists. However, his statistics alone do not fully capture the value he brings to Wolves, particularly with his exceptional speed in the final third. Last season, he received significantly more playing time compared to the previous campaign, thanks to Julen Lopetegui entrusting him with an important role in the squad.

Despite this, the 27-year-old has rejected multiple contract offers from Wolves and is currently exploring his options for the 2023-24 season. While Wolves have presented a final proposal that Traore has yet to decline, he is contemplating the opportunities available elsewhere.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio tweeted that AC Milan sees Traore, a former Barcelona academy graduate and loanee, as a potential addition to their attacking options. Stefano Pioli is currently restructuring his first-team squad following the high-profile departure of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United.

The potential signing of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is expected to be finalized before the end of the week. However, Pioli is also keen on adding at least one new winger to his squad. Milan is reportedly in negotiations with Chelsea regarding a possible deal for Christian Pulisic. Nonetheless, the two clubs are currently far apart in their valuation, making a free agent like Traore a more appealing prospect as Milan aims to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Milan is not the only team interested in signing Traore, as Serie A champions Napoli have also been linked with acquiring his services.

That being said, Traore expressed his desire last season to have a longer stint in La Liga. His previous two short spells in the Spanish league came after he progressed through the youth ranks at Barcelona and spent the second half of the 2021-22 season at Camp Nou.
