Transfer deadline day is living up to its reputation with a flurry of big-name deals across the Premier League, as Aston Villa, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle all made significant moves to reshape their squads.

Aston Villa made headlines by snapping up former Manchester United defender Victor Lindelöf on a free transfer. The 31-year-old Sweden captain signed a two-year deal, bringing leadership and experience to Unai Emery’s backline. Villa are also finalizing loan moves for Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott, both of whom are completing medicals. Sancho, who turned down Roma earlier in the summer, will see most of his wages covered by Villa, while Elliott’s deal includes a £35m obligation to buy.

At Old Trafford, United turned to the future by securing Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for £18.1m plus add-ons. The 23-year-old is seen as a long-term successor to Thibaut Courtois, arriving amid struggles for both Altay Bayindir and André Onana. United sources are excited about Lammens’ potential after 64 senior appearances in Belgium.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have boosted their attacking options by agreeing a season-long loan for Randal Kolo Muani from PSG. The France international, who played in the 2022 World Cup final, becomes Spurs’ fourth major signing of the window and is expected to form part of a refreshed front line alongside Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons.

Up north, Newcastle added firepower with the £55m capture of Yoane Wissa from Brentford. The DR Congo international forced through a move after accusing the Bees of blocking his exit, and he now joins Nick Woltemade in Eddie Howe’s revamped forward line following Alexander Isak’s record-breaking departure to Liverpool.
