The Reds are scheduled to play Athletic Bilbao twice on Monday as new manager Arne Slot continues to fine-tune his squad ahead of the Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace on August 10.
New signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike caught the eye in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Yokohama F. Marinos on Wednesday, and they might not be the last big-name additions to arrive at Anfield this summer.
The club has already had a bid of over £100 million turned down for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, and if they go back with an improved offer, it could push their total spending this summer past the £400 million mark.
If Isak does end up joining, Liverpool may look to offset some of that spending through player sales. According to The Mirror, Stephenson, McConnell, and Koumas are attracting strong interest from Championship clubs and teams abroad. Stephenson has looked good in pre-season but hasn’t yet made a Premier League appearance, while McConnell and Koumas have only played a combined four minutes in the league.
None of the three are likely to command huge transfer fees, but Liverpool also have several senior players who could be sold to help balance the books.
