Manchester United have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško in a deal worth £73.7 million (85 million euros). The package includes a guaranteed £66.3 million (76.5 million euros), with the rest coming through performance-related add-ons.

Šeško is set to undergo his medical on Friday before completing the formalities of the transfer and officially becoming a United player. The 22-year-old has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for Leipzig and was also on Newcastle’s radar before choosing Old Trafford.

United have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined total of around £130 million. The club structured those payments carefully to maintain financial flexibility in the market. Additionally, Marcus Rashford's full £325,000-a-week salary is being covered during his loan spell at Barcelona.

Chelsea also paid United £5 million after pulling out of a deal for Jadon Sancho. Meanwhile, United are open to selling Alejandro Garnacho, with Chelsea showing interest. If a deal goes through, it could raise another £50 million. Striker Rasmus Højlund has also been made available for £40 million after scoring just 14 league goals across two seasons.

Šeško’s arrival marks another blow for Newcastle, who recently lost out on Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool and now face the possibility of star striker Alexander Isak heading to Anfield as well.

Since moving to Germany, Šeško has been the highest-scoring under-23 player in Europe’s top five leagues, ahead of the likes of Jude Bellingham and Florian Wirtz.

With his mix of size, speed, aerial dominance, and clinical finishing, the Slovenian has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland, not just for their shared history at Salzburg, but for his physical and technical attributes. He was also clocked at 35.7 km/h, making him one of the fastest strikers in the Bundesliga.
