Roma have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund, as interest in the Danish striker continues to grow ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old is being heavily linked with a return to Serie A after a tough 2024–25 campaign at Old Trafford. Despite flashes of potential, Højlund struggled to consistently deliver, and a number of Italian clubs are now circling.

Inter Milan are currently seen as front-runners for his signature, while both Napoli and Juventus have also expressed interest. Now, according to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are also keen, though a move would likely depend on the sale of Artem Dovbyk.

The report adds that Roma are close to securing a loan deal for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson. Still, they’re eager to further strengthen their attack, and Højlund is viewed as an ideal addition.

Manchester United are said to be looking for at least £35 million if they are to part ways with Højlund this summer. While last season was underwhelming, the Danish forward has still shown promise during his time at the club, scoring 26 goals in 95 appearances. He managed 10 goals in all competitions last season, though only four came in the Premier League.

With United actively searching for a new striker this summer, there’s a possibility Højlund could be pushed down the pecking order. Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is among the names being linked to a potential move to Old Trafford.

Roma, who finished fifth in Serie A last season, won’t be in the Champions League, but they will compete in the Europa League group stage. Despite their interest, Højlund appears committed to staying at Manchester United.

Speaking to Bold, the striker made his intentions clear:
“I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United,” he said.
“I'm looking forward to a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway. I know what the facts are, and I expect to play there. I’m just getting ready for a good pre-season.”

Still, with United looking to reshape their attack, a lot could change between now and the end of the transfer window. Whether Højlund stays or goes may ultimately depend on who arrives at Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
