Joshua managed to win the fight by knocking out Helenius in the seventh round, but now the focus shifts to the failed drug test in boxing. Helenius has tested positive for a substance that is currently unidentified and banned.
Helenius had been in his second fight within a week when the test was conducted, happening six days after he had defeated his fellow countryman Mika Mielonen.
The testing organization VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) was not involved in the match in Helenius's home country. They are usually only part of high-profile fights because of the expenses.
Although the failed test won't affect Joshua's victory, it adds another negative aspect to the sport. This comes alongside women's super-featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner also facing an "adverse analytical finding" after her recent world title match.
