Real Madrid has reportedly set their sights on Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez as a primary transfer target. The 23-year-old Argentinean winger joined Manchester City from River Plate last July and made an impressive debut season under Pep Guardiola's guidance, tallying 17 goals and contributing five assists in 49 appearances.

Alvarez has continued to excel in the current season, scoring twice and providing an assist in four Premier League outings, benefiting from Kevin De Bruyne's recent injury. While Alvarez is contracted with the Etihad Stadium until June 2028, reports from Fichajes suggest that Real Madrid is keen on luring him to the Bernabeu next summer.

According to the report, Los Blancos are planning to secure a new forward at the conclusion of the season, particularly since they did not replace Karim Benzema during the recent transfer window. While Kylian Mbappe is widely anticipated to join Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain next year, the club is facing a shortage in the center-forward position, and Joselu is expected to return to Espanyol next summer.

During the current season, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior have predominantly operated as the front two for Carlo Ancelotti's side, with Jude Bellingham playing as a number 10 ahead of a three-man midfield. However, Vinicius is currently sidelined due to injury, which provided Joselu with an opportunity to start and score in the team's 2-1 victory over Getafe before the international break.

While Brahim Diaz remains an additional option in the final third, Real Madrid appears to lack genuine center-forward choices, especially after Benzema's departure to Saudi Arabia over the summer. Reports indicate that Real Madrid maintains a long-term interest in Erling Haaland, with the Norwegian striker being a primary target for the capital club. Nevertheless, a move for Haaland next summer appears unlikely, potentially shifting Real Madrid's focus towards their pursuit of Julian Alvarez, who began his professional career at River Plate, amassing 54 goals and 31 assists in 122 appearances for the club before joining Manchester City.

Additionally, Alvarez has also made a significant impact on the international stage, scoring seven goals in 23 appearances for Argentina, including four goals at the 2022 World Cup, which contributed to his country's victory in Qatar.
