Real Madrid and Manchester City are reportedly showing strong interest in acquiring Bayer Leverkusen's rising star, Florian Wirtz. The 20-year-old has been a consistent presence in Xabi Alonso's team, impressing with five goals and seven assists in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Under the guidance of the former Liverpool and Real Madrid player Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen is having a successful campaign, currently leading the German top flight ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich. Wirtz has also established himself as a crucial member of Germany's squad, making 14 appearances for the national team since his debut in March 2021.

According to Sport Bild, both Real Madrid and Manchester City are eager to secure Wirtz's services in the near future, aiming for success both domestically and in the Champions League. Leverkusen has reportedly set a hefty price tag of around €130 million (£111.6 million) for the young German attacker, potentially rising to €150 million (£128.8 million) with various add-ons.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also said to be in the race for Wirtz, setting the stage for a competitive battle for the player's long-term commitment. Wirtz is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until the summer of 2027, ensuring the club is not under any immediate pressure to sell him at a lower price.

While there are suggestions that Wirtz is expected to remain with Leverkusen until at least 2025, a move earlier than that is not entirely ruled out. Recent reports indicated that Thomas Tuchel's side may have an advantage over their Premier League and La Liga counterparts in the competitive pursuit of the 20-year-old.

Despite interest from abroad, it is believed that Wirtz may not be inclined towards a move outside Germany, providing Bayern Munich with a significant advantage in securing his services in the upcoming transfer windows.
