Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has reportedly given his approval for a lucrative summer transfer to Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al-Hilal.

During the previous season, the Brazilian international shone as part of the renowned front trio alongside Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, but his campaign was shortened due to a severe ankle injury.

Neymar, who is under contract with PSG until 2025, was initially considered the least likely of the trio to depart, especially as Messi moved to Inter Miami in MLS. However, recent talk about a potential move to Saudi Arabia has gained momentum. According to a report from L'Equipe, cited by The Mirror, Neymar has now agreed to a transfer to Al-Hilal.

Reportedly, the former Barcelona player is set to sign a two-year contract with Al-Hilal, with the deal being valued at a staggering £150 million per year. Nonetheless, the Saudi Arabian side has yet to finalize an agreement on the fee with PSG.

The French champions are ready to absorb a significant financial hit from the record-breaking £198 million they spent to acquire Neymar in 2017, and a fee of £70 million could potentially seal the deal.

While Neymar's father had previously downplayed the chances of his son leaving Parc des Princes this summer, the attacker was notably absent from the PSG squad during their opening Ligue 1 draw with Lorient on Saturday, alongside several other unwanted players.

Having contributed to a total of 195 goals in 173 matches across all competitions for Les Parisiens, Neymar appears poised to leave the French capital. His contributions include 118 goals and 77 assists. Despite securing five Ligue 1 titles with PSG, Neymar has been unable to help the team secure a coveted Champions League title, and he has faced numerous injury setbacks throughout his time there.

In the 2022-23 season, the South American player made a strong start with 18 goals and 17 assists in his first 29 matches. However, his promising performance was cut short by an ankle injury in February that ultimately ended his campaign.
