Newcastle United co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi are set to depart from the club. They initially acquired a 10% stake in Newcastle when they played a key role in the £305 million Saudi Arabian-backed takeover in 2021.

Over time, their share in the club reduced to six percent as the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben family increased their own holdings. According to BBC Radio Newcastle, Staveley and Ghodoussi have now sold their remaining shares and will be leaving the club.

Since the takeover, the couple has been deeply involved in the club’s daily operations. They were pivotal in appointing manager Eddie Howe in November 2021, replacing Steve Bruce. Additionally, they facilitated key signings such as Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier during their first transfer window to help the club avoid relegation.
