The Champions League is about to feel very different. Here’s what’s changing:

No Extra Time – Straight to Penalties
Forget the drama of extra time! From now on, if a knockout game is level after 90 minutes, it goes directly to a penalty shootout.

Top 8 Get Home Advantage
The eight best-ranked teams after the league phase will always play the second leg at home.

Clubs from the same country won’t face off until at least the quarterfinal stage.
