Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is facing a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury in Saturday's Premier League win over Brentford. Jota, who was forced off the pitch after a collision with Brentford's Christian Norgaard, is expected to be out for around two months.

Initial concerns were raised when Jota had to be stretchered off the field, but it's been reported that the injury is not as severe as feared. Instead of an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, Jota is believed to have damaged his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), which should see him back in action before the season's end. However, he will still miss a significant portion of Liverpool's upcoming fixtures.

Jota will definitely be sidelined for the EFL Cup final against Chelsea and could miss as many as nine Premier League matches, including key clashes against Manchester United, Everton, and Manchester City. Additionally, he's expected to miss the Europa League last 16 ties and potentially the quarter-finals if Liverpool progresses.

While his injury rules him out of immediate fixtures, Jota's chances of representing Portugal at Euro 2024 are not thought to be in jeopardy.

The injury adds to Liverpool's growing list of absentees, with Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez also suffering knocks in the same game. Mohamed Salah, who returned from injury against Brentford, is now reportedly dealing with muscular cramps, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming matches.

With several key players sidelined, Liverpool faces a challenging period ahead as they navigate through a series of crucial fixtures.
