Nearly two weeks have passed since Liverpool announced that Diogo Jota had scans following a recurrence of his hamstring injury, effectively sidelining the Portuguese forward.

Jurgen Klopp addressed the Liverpool squad's current injury situation to the official club website "There is another crucial meeting this afternoon, but I'm not sure who can attend it at the moment. We must take a look before beginning the game. Preseason, so we have to get through it before dealing with it."

Following that, Klopp continued, "Obviously Diogo [Jota] is not here, that is clear." Jota is currently not even in the squad, so it appears he still has a chance to return to the field.
Darwin Nunez, a record signing for Liverpool, will now have the chance to compete against Roberto Firmino for the starting striker spot on the Premier League's opening weekend now that the number 20 of Liverpool will likely miss the beginning of the season.

After two outstanding seasons in which he has continued to advance, there is no doubt that Diogo Jota will be greatly missed while he is on the bench. The Portuguese international has made 85 appearances since moving to Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 for a reported £41 million, scoring 34 goals and dishing out nine assists. While doing so, he demonstrated his value to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool team by playing in all three positions across the frontline.
