Galatasaray has officially entered negotiations with Napoli to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on loan.
The 25-year-old forward had previously been on the radar of Premier League giants Chelsea and Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. However, with the English transfer window now closed, it appears Osimhen is poised to make a move to Istanbul.
Osimhen has been a prolific force for Napoli, netting 76 goals in 133 appearances. His contributions were instrumental in Napoli’s triumph in the 2022-23 Serie A season, where he scored 26 goals. Despite this, his form dipped slightly last season, where he managed 15 goals in the league.
Napoli, managed by Antonio Conte, recently bolstered their squad by signing Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea for £30 million.
Galatasaray confirmed their interest with a social media statement: "Official negotiations have begun with the football player and his club SSCN Napoli SPA regarding the temporary transfer of professional footballer Victor James Osimhen."
