According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is reportedly considering signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. This development comes as Nico Williams has announced his commitment to staying with Athletic Club via social media.
Williams, 22, recently returned to pre-season training with Athletic Club and expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season in a post saying, "I’m back! I’m really looking forward to this season. Vamos, Athletic!" With Williams set to remain at Athletic Club, Barcelona has shifted their focus to Olmo, who played a crucial role in Spain’s successful Euro 2024 campaign.
The 26-year-old Olmo scored three goals and provided two assists, contributing significantly to Spain’s fourth European Championship victory. His impressive performances have caught the attention of top clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
Barcelona is reportedly close to securing Olmo’s transfer for €55 million, with an additional €7 million in potential add-ons. Olmo, who initially left Barcelona for Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, is now poised to return to his former club.
Despite injuries limiting him to 17 league appearances for RB Leipzig last season, Olmo still managed to score four goals and provide five assists. In response to Olmo’s potential departure, RB Leipzig has announced the re-signing of Xavi Simons for the 2024/25 season.
