The Republic of Ireland international has spent most of his time at Liverpool as Alisson Becker’s understudy, with the club previously blocking a potential move to Nottingham Forest. During the September international break, Kelleher openly expressed frustration over his limited opportunities, stating his desire to leave and secure a starting role elsewhere.
Despite Alisson’s recurring injuries providing Kelleher more chances to impress, he has already made eight appearances this season with four clean sheets—the 25-year-old is likely to return to the bench once Alisson recovers from his current hamstring issue.
Complicating matters further, Liverpool are set to welcome Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia next year, potentially pushing Kelleher down the pecking order.
With his contract running until 2026, a summer exit seems inevitable. According to The Sun, Chelsea are keen to sign Kelleher but face competition from Juventus and Napoli. While Liverpool may hesitate to sell to a Premier League rival, a £35 million offer from Chelsea might leave them with little choice.
Kelleher, however, reportedly prefers to stay in England, giving Chelsea a potential edge over their Italian counterparts as they look to bolster their squad for a Champions League push.
