A Brazilian police investigation into domestic abuse allegations against Manchester United winger Antony has concluded without any charges, though prosecutors may still pursue the case.

The 24-year-old footballer, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing, is also under investigation by Greater Manchester Police.

The allegations were made by three women in September of the previous year. Despite the claims, Antony has not been arrested or charged in either Brazil or the UK and continues to maintain his innocence.

In a statement, Antony's lawyers confirmed that the investigation by the fifth Women's Defense Precinct in São Paulo had been closed without any charges. "The defense has always believed that the confidential investigations would prove Antony's innocence," they stated.

However, the case remains open, as officials have told BBC News Brasil that the prosecutor's office is still reviewing the findings and could initiate an independent investigation.

Antony, who became Manchester United's second-most expensive signing when he transferred from Ajax for £82 million in September 2022, was first accused of assault by his ex-partner Gabriela Cavallin in September 2023. He denies these accusations, as well as further claims of assault made by Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana, who allege incidents in 2022.

Greater Manchester Police became involved after one of the alleged incidents was reported to have occurred at a hotel in Manchester.

In response to the allegations, Manchester United granted Antony leave with full pay on September 10 to address the situation. He resumed training on September 29 after voluntarily speaking with Greater Manchester Police and returned to action in early October.

However, by January, his club manager, Erik ten Hag, acknowledged that the situation had impacted Antony's performance on the field.
