Former NBA center, Willie Cauley-Stein is embarking on a new chapter in his basketball career by joining Pallacanestro Varese, an Italian team. This move marks the 29-year-old's first venture into international basketball after an eight-year professional career primarily in the NBA.

During his most recent stint with the Houston Rockets' G-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Cauley-Stein showcased his skills, averaging 8.8 points and 5.7 rebounds over 13 games in the 2022-23 season, with an average playing time of 27 minutes per contest.

Throughout his NBA journey, which included stints with the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, and Philadelphia 76ers, Cauley-Stein has been a reliable performer. He holds career averages of 8.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 422 games, 256 of which he started, over seven seasons.

Cauley-Stein initially entered the NBA as the 6th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft with the Sacramento Kings. During his debut season, he earned recognition by making the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2016, posting impressive stats of 7.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in 66 games. Now, he is set to embrace a fresh challenge in Europe as he takes his talents to Pallacanestro Varese.
