During the summer transfer window, AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori apparently turned down an opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain. Tomori, once part of Chelsea but not quite meeting their standards, has transformed into a highly-dependable defender under Stefano Pioli's guidance at Milan.

After a successful loan spell in the second half of the 2020-21 season, Tomori made a permanent move to Milan that summer for a fee of £27.4 million. He played a significant role in Milan's Serie A title victory during his first full season with the club. His performances even earned him a spot in the 2021-22 Serie A Team of the Year and a new long-term contract with Pioli's team, which extends until the summer of 2027.

While the 2022-23 season wasn't as successful for Milan in domestic competitions, Tomori made 10 starts in the Champions League as Pioli's side reached the semi-finals, where they were unfortunate to be eliminated by their San Siro rivals, Inter Milan.

Even with the presence of other defenders like Malick Thiaw and Simon Kjaer, Tomori continues to be a key player in Pioli's lineup and has already appeared five times for Milan in the current season.

In total, the English international has contributed three goals and one assist in 112 appearances for the Italian giants. However, it seems that his loyalty to the club was put to the test over the summer.

According to reports from Calciomercato, French champions PSG expressed tentative interest in signing Tomori after the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, following the departure of Sergio Ramos on a free transfer. PSG had apparently reached out to Tomori's representatives to explore the possibility of a move to Paris. However, Tomori chose not to entertain the idea and turned down PSG's advances.

Since rejecting PSG's offer, Tomori has played a role in Milan's four victories in their first five Serie A matches of the season, although he missed a 5-1 defeat to Inter in the Derby della Madonnina due to suspension. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has since helped Milan secure consecutive clean sheets against Newcastle United and Hellas Verona in both the Champions League and the Italian top flight, respectively, after watching the derby from the sidelines.

Despite making a name for himself in Italy, the Canadian-born center-back has only earned three caps for the England national team under Gareth Southgate and missed out on a spot in the Three Lions' squad for the 2022 World Cup.
