Tottenham Hotspur is intensifying their efforts to sign winger Jota from Al-Ittihad. The 24-year-old has faced challenges since his £25m transfer from Celtic to Al-Ittihad during the summer transfer window.

Although Jota appeared as a substitute in Al-Ittihad's initial five league games, he has been ineligible to play in the Saudi Pro League since September due to a rule limiting clubs to eight foreign players in their squad. Despite the addition of players like Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, Fabinho, and Luiz Felipe, Jota has been restricted to three appearances in the AFC Champions League.

According to The Times, Tottenham is considering offering Jota a way out of Al-Ittihad, with the Premier League club actively pursuing his services. While Spurs are prioritizing a center-back in the January window, they are also exploring options for short-term cover on the flanks due to injuries.

Tottenham is dealing with long-term injuries to Ivan Perisic, who is out for the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and Manor Salomon, who underwent knee surgery last month and won't be back until the new year. This has left Tottenham with limited wide options, consisting of Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Bryan Gil.

With Al-Ittihad open to a loan deal for Jota, Tottenham may consider bringing him in on a temporary basis until the end of the season. Manager Ange Postecoglou is familiar with Jota's abilities from their time together at Celtic, where Jota scored 28 goals and provided 26 assists in 83 appearances across all competitions over two seasons.
