Finally, the official season opener to the English football calendar is here👇👇
The FA Community Shield is a historic occasion in the annual British sporting calendar, marking the beginning of the domestic football season and the first opportunity to claim silverware.

The 2022 iteration will be a momentous occasion as Premier League champions Manchester City take on FA Cup winners and Champions League runners-up Liverpool in a grudge match on the biggest stage.

Both sides have strengthened significantly in the summer transfer window with Man City drafting in Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland, Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips, and Argentine wonderkid Julian Alvarez.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have reacted to the loss of Sadio Mane by spending a mouth-watering fee on Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez, while Fulham's Portuguese starlet Fabio Carvalho has also linked up with the squad.

With the showpiece event just around the corner, here are all the key dates and times you need for the 2022 Community Shield.

When Is The 2022 Community Shield?

The 2022 Community Shield will be played on Saturday, July 31st with kick-off currently scheduled for 5 PM (UK time), in order to avoid a clash with the final of the Women's EURO 2022 tournament.

Where Is The 2022 Community Shield Being Played?

The Community Shield is traditionally played at Wembley, but this will not be the case in 2022 as Wembley hosts the closing stages of the ongoing Women's EURO 2022 competition.

Instead, the Community Shield has been moved to Leicester, with the King Power Stadium set as the destination for the epic clash between Manchester City and Liverpool on July 31st, 2022.

Expert Prediction
The last time both teams contested the community shield in 2020, Manchester City emerged victorious via a penalty shootout. Both teams have added significant squad reshuffles with notable arrivals and departures. It's going to be close and tightly fought, but I'm putting my money on Liverpool to clinch it this time.
