There are suggestions that chairman Daniel Levy may not be willing to sell the 29-year-old at the end of the season, but it remains a possibility given that Spurs cannot risk losing a player valued at £100m on a free transfer in 2024, especially when they are struggling to qualify for the Champions League. After a 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United, Spurs are now six points behind the Magpies and Manchester United, who have played fewer games, in the Premier League table.
United is reportedly ready to move forward with a summer deal, though Levy would prefer to avoid selling Kane to a Premier League rival, especially United, as the two clubs have not always had a positive relationship. Nevertheless, United and possibly Chelsea, who are expected to appoint former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach, are the only realistic destinations for Kane in the Premier League at this point. The report suggests that growing expectations that Kane will not sign a new deal at Tottenham will only encourage a United bid.
United is currently conducting "due diligence" and exploring alternative options if it becomes clear that Spurs will not sell Kane to them. Kane is yet to win a domestic piece of silverware, while United, who reached their second cup final of the season on Sunday, are in the market for a new central forward.
