The Los Angeles Lakers are on the hunt for a new coach following the dismissal of Darvin Ham, and one of the contenders for the position is former player J. J. Redick. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Lakers have been eyeing Redick for some time and are evaluating him as a potential candidate.

"But one name that the Lakers have been drilling down on in their initial research is J. J. Redick, our colleague at ESPN," Wojnarowski said with a smile.

"He's certainly somebody that the Lakers are intrigued with. They've been making a lot of calls to try to learn more about him, but expect this to be a wide-ranging and lengthy search for the LA," he concluded.

The NBA insider also mentions that the Lakers' quest for a new coach will come to a close this week. Alongside considering Redick, the Lakers will be reaching out across the league to seek permission to interview other coaching candidates.

The Los Angeles Lakers faced an early exit from the season this year, bowing out 4-1 in the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Denver Nuggets.
