Liverpool is reportedly considering a €45m (£38.6m) January move for Atalanta BC midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The 25-year-old, who developed in the youth system at AZ Alkmaar before joining Atalanta in 2021, has impressed in various midfield roles under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Originally a defensive midfielder, Koopmeiners has evolved into a goal-scoring threat for Atalanta, tallying 21 goals and 12 assists in 104 matches across all competitions. In the 2023-24 Serie A season, he has transitioned to a more attacking role, contributing five goals and three assists in 19 games, often operating as a number 10.

Recent performances include scoring in consecutive Serie A games against Roma and Frosinone, as well as a brace against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Despite being under contract with Atalanta for another three-and-a-half years, Liverpool, led by Jurgen Klopp, is rumored to be preparing a €45m offer for Koopmeiners, viewing him as the box-to-box midfielder needed to enhance their game.

Klopp is reportedly urging the club's owners to secure another midfield option before the January window closes, appreciating Koopmeiners's versatility. However, competition for the midfielder's signature may come from Juventus and Newcastle United, both actively seeking midfield additions in the winter market.
