There are reports suggesting that Jorge Mendes has proposed Jose Mourinho as a potential candidate for the managerial position at Barcelona. The club is actively seeking a new manager for the upcoming 2024-25 season after their current boss, Xavi, announced his decision to leave.

Xavi shared this news on Saturday, citing the team's current standing in La Liga, where they are currently fourth, well behind the league leaders Girona and their rivals Real Madrid.

Mourinho, who recently parted ways with Serie A team Roma, is said to be in consideration for the Barcelona job. Mendes, Mourinho's agent, is reported to have made the offer as Barcelona intensifies its search for Xavi's successor.

The club's sporting director, Deco, is known to be a supporter of Mourinho, as the two share a history from the time Mourinho coached Deco to a Champions League victory with Porto in 2004.

Mendes and Deco are believed to have a positive relationship, with Mendes having been involved in several of Barcelona's recent transfer dealings. Mourinho, having led Roma to their first-ever European trophy in the 2021-22 season, is now actively looking for a new coaching position.

His previous experience managing Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013 makes him a familiar figure to Barcelona fans, who remember the intense rivalry between Mourinho's team and Barcelona, particularly in the 2011-2012 La Liga season.
