Joao Felix secured a 1-0 victory for Barcelona against his parent club, Atletico Madrid, in Sunday night's La Liga match at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

The Portugal international, currently on loan from Atletico to Barcelona since the final stages of the summer transfer window, scored the decisive goal in the 28th minute. This result propelled Xavi's side into the third position in the table, four points behind leaders Real Madrid, while Atletico now trails by seven points, albeit with a game in hand.

Barcelona broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Felix skillfully lifted the ball over the advancing Jan Oblak after entering the penalty box. The celebration was anything but subdued, reflecting the significance of the moment.

Despite Atletico's efforts to equalize, including a close attempt by Hermoso in the 33rd minute and a goal-bound strike by Antoine Griezmann later on, Frenkie de Jong's block kept Barcelona ahead.

Felix nearly scored a second goal late in the first half, but Oblak denied his close-range effort, allowing Atletico to survive a potential setback before halftime. In the 69th minute, Felix had another close chance after a setup by Lewandowski, but his attempt narrowly missed Oblak's post.

Barcelona's goalkeeper, Inaki Pena, standing in for the absent Marc-Andre ter Stegen, made a crucial save against a free kick from Memphis Depay and denied Correa late in the game. The Catalan team managed to secure a clean sheet, earning a significant three points on their home turf.
